Description |
This satirical caricature by Polish artist Stanislaw Toegel exaggeratedly shows Adolf Hitler. He is portrayed with distorted proportions. His head and facial features are unnaturally elongated, and his body appears frail and stiff. His exaggerated stance, performing the Nazi salute. A green amorphous shape in the background looms behind him. The caption "Today Germany, tomorrow the world" references the aggressive expansionist policy of Nazi Germany and Hitler's delusions of global domination. The illustration is part of Toegel's Hitleriada Furiosa series, which was created immediately following World War II as a way to ridicule and document the crimes of Nazi leaders. Image lgth 9.5, ht.13 in., fram lgth 12.5 in., ht.17 in. The object is originally an offset lithograph adhered to gray cardstock. At some later point, the print was wrapped in plastic. |
